The Mighty Three are 16 Months

Month 16 of life was a whirlwind. I remember looking at the month ahead telling myself, just breathe. You can do it. In the past month we have moved out of our first home and moved in with my parents, while we continue to look for a house.

We started therapy four times a week! This is no easy task and is exactly why I didn’t find myself returning to work. And by returning to work, I mean outside the home! My day right now definitely feels a lot like work.

Monday: swim therapy, Tuesday: SI therapy, Thursday: OT, and Friday: PT.

We are beyond blessed with our team of therapists working their magic to help our babies catch up developmentally. But, it’s a lot on this momma. They no longer come to the house, except for Tuesday therapy, so I am loading them up three days a week and taking them into town for their sessions. It’s been nice to get out of the house more, but loading up three babies by myself is whew ….. Just, whew!

This week alone, on top of four therapies, we had three appointments with specialists. These take hours. Max had a pulmonologist and retina specialist appointment (tomorrow), and Miller had an audiology appointment. Bring on the weekend people, because this momma just wants to play with her kids.

Enough about me!  We all know you are really here to see cute pics and updates of the babies…

Maggie Gail

I mean, that crinkle nose :)

I mean, that crinkle nose :)

Maggie Gail is pushing the 18 pound mark and is getting the cutest round belly! She is adding more sounds to her vocabulary, but no words other than “momma.” We did go to an audiologist to get a second opinion about her hearing and she passed with flying colors. We are thankful it’s not an auditory issue, so we will be starting speech soon! (Where speech is going to fit into our schedule is beyond me?). She loves to play peek-a-boo, clap, patty cake, and make silly noises with her mouth. She is crawling everywhere and is really starting to cruise around the playroom, holding on to anything and everything. She hasn’t taken any steps yet, but I don’t think it will be too much longer. She is my climber and will make herself an obstacle course. She loves to climb steps, toys, people, anything she can.

She lights up when JamMa or Daddy walk into the room.

Her hair is a cock-a-doodle-doo-mess.

Her crinkle nose and sticking out her tongue is the cutest.

And she almost always cleans her plate.

Max is still hovering around the 16lb 10oz mark. We are doing thickened feeds and have really seen improvement with his volume intake. We are thankful he finally broke the 15lb curse after four long months, but buddy let’s start adding on some poundage. I think it would really help you win against Miller and all his “love too hard moments.” :) Max is constantly, I mean constantly talking. He will try and repeat almost anything you say and tries to carry on conversations with Maggie and Miller. He loves it when you whisper into his ear, follows around Maggie and Miller like it’s his job, and loves cars. He is army crawling everywhere. He has started being able to put weight on his arms and push up into a crawling position. He hasn’t been able to coordinate the crawling movement yet (dang low tone trunk), but I am confident he will get it. He has been showing interest in putting weight on his feet when we hold him, so our therapist has really been working on him using his legs in the standing position. He is so close to sitting up unassisted. I joke with my husband that when that day comes we are having a party!

Max man you are momma’s buddy.

You could sit in JamPa’s lap all night watching football.

You look like, Jimmy Neutron, a troll, elf, and a turtle all rolled into one.

And you hate, I mean hate swim therapy. :)

Miller James

Miller is pushing the 22lb mark and has the biggest hands and feet I’ve ever seen on a little fella. I swear this kid is going to be 6’5” and he started at only 1lb 9oz. Miller loves to preach, and by preach I mean yell at the top of his lungs. It reminds me of those bullhorn preachers. :) Miller is my sleeper and would take naps all day, if I let him. He plays hard and naps harder. We have really been working on his fine motor skills lately. Our therapist tapes his fingers down except for his pointer finger and thumb and makes him practice picking things up over and over. You will be able to pick up a Cheerio one day bud! However his gross motor skills have taken off. He is crawling, cruising, and taking about 7 steps unassisted. He is having some trouble getting off his toes when he walks and his right leg “lags” behind, so we will be starting the leg brace process with him. Any brace tips would be welcomed! We are hoping that this is the secret to getting him to start walking everywhere! I’m ready.

Miller, you are a bulldozer inside a hurricane. You wear momma out!

But, at the same time, you have the biggest heart and give the BEST hugs.

Your chubby cheeks and double chin, I could eat with a spoon.

And you love golf cart rides!

Please pray for us during the sick season, as it is quickly approaching. Beginning October 1st, we will go back to “isolation.” We will get to be a little more relaxed this year, but it’s still emotionally hard on me and my family. You might be wondering why we are “required” to do isolation another year. It's because the lungs aren’t fully developed until age 2. So, until then we need to make sure all the new lung sacs that are being developed are healthy ones!

Thank you! Thank you for praying with us against sickness! And more importantly, thank you for just praying for us, and being there with us during this journey. Life is indeed a trip!
